Roulette could be the synonym for casinos. It is one of the most popular and frequently played casino games. Also, it is one of the easiest to learn and relies heavily on luck. However, there are strategies, tips and tricks to enhance the odds. We wrote about some of them in the previous posts. Today, let us focus on some of the Roulette bets that you can place and what to expect.
American Vs. European Roulette
Many of you may have already tried their luck with either of the Roulette variations and have experience with different roulette bets. Others who still haven’t had the chance to do it should learn to distinguish the basic difference between European and American roulette.
What is similar is that both games allow for betting on red, black, high, low, odd or even. The difference is that the European roulette gives you the chance to bet on numbers between 1 and 36 in red or black with a single green 0 included.
On the other hand, the American roulette contains double zero (00) in green color, and numbers 1-36 in red or black. This one 0 makes a lot of difference when it comes to the house edge. Precisely, the edge in the American roulette is 5.26%. Alternatively, the edge in a European roulette is 2.70%.
You get the idea why European Roulette is easier to beat.
The Column Roulette Bets
You may have noticed that you can bet on the numbers appearing in columns on the layout. When you do this, you are basically wagering on the possibility that one of those columns will contain the winning number. The numbers in columns are in consecutive order, contrary to the numbers on the wheel. Please note each column has 12 numbers with zeros excluded.
The payout in these roulette bets is 2:1. It means that when you bet 1 and win, you receive back 2 plus your original bet. Betting on just one column may be riskier, but with higher payouts.
The Dozens Roulette Bets
As the name suggests, these roulette bets allow you to wager on one of the dozens that you think may strike – 1st dozen (1-12), 2nd dozen (13-24), or 3rd dozen (25-36). Sometimes, you may come across the names such as Low Dozen, Middle Dozen and High Dozen.
Zeros are excluded here as well, and the payout is 2:1. Please note that you can place your bet on 2 dozens as well.
We came across this tip from a professional – when you chose a dozen to bet on, begin with the bet of 1 and continue with the following progression in case you lose: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 – 9 – 13 – 20 – 30 – 45 – 67 – 100. In case you win start with 1 again.
